Missional People

We are a sent people, responding to the call of Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit to go into all the world, witnessing to the Lordship of Christ and participating with God in the building of the Church and the extension of His kingdom (Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Corinthians 6:1).

The term "Missio Dei" means literally "the mission of God." Though the phrase itself has a long history in circles of people who study the theology of mission, it is not widely known by most Christians. But it is a phrase that perfectly sums up the perspective of the Bible. As Christopher J.H. Wright says, "There is one God at work in the universe and in human history, and ... this God has a goal, a purpose, a mission that will ultimately be accomplished by the power of God's Word and for the glory of God's name. This is the mission of the biblical God" (2006, 64).
