Our 30 Year Vision

The long term vision of The Vineyard
Vision is a clear picture of what we see the church being or doing. Vision is the product of God working in us. He creates in us the vision and we receive it. It becomes our rallying point; a goal toward which we move as His people. Vision comes to us as a deep dissatisfaction with what is and a clear grasp of what could be. These are some of the things God has worked in our hearts and is stretching us to become:

As Jesus said, “I will build my church.” We believe the Lord Jesus will be building The Vineyard into a community of believers which:

1. Embraces the role of the Christian community.

We envision a multi-generational, multi-racial and multi-socio community of believers where the walls of race, age and income are broken down by a sincere application of “the welcome of God” towards all mankind. A community of believers which can take off the “religious masks” and provide a place of grace and acceptance. While, the corporate gathering is important, but not as important as the need for personal growth in a small group. We envision a church of small groups, which gather in homes, grow in discipleship and then move towards multiplying the small group. It is through small groups that church leadership will be developed and where the nucleus of the church plants will be released.

2. Practices a dependence upon the daily leadership of the Holy Spirit.

We envision a community of believers which anticipate the visitation of the Holy Spirit through the teaching of the word, the corporate worship experience and in the ministry time of every gathering. We want to disciple a community of believers into being “naturally –supernatural” and therefore do everything which is natural and rational but open to the in-breaking of the Kingdom of God. We envision a church which is fulfilling the ministry of Jesus through the empowering of the Holy Spirit, and ministering not only within the church gathering, but also doing the ministry of Jesus in the marketplace, the home and schools.

3. Touches the lives of children with an excellent and creative ministry through Vineyard Kids.

We envision a children’s ministry based upon the parable of the Matthew 13:44, “The kingdom of God is like a treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again and then in his joy went and sold all that he had and bought that field.”

The Vineyard Kids ministry will be infused with creative props, videos, staging & characters to provide a consistent theme throughout. It will have a team which is screened and equipped by The Vineyard. We envision a community where children learn to love Jesus, value His Word, and participate in His ministry.

4. Is connected in a network of local churches.

We envision a network of 10 churches planted throughout the Metro-Nashville area, which are connected through mutual support, resources and joint conferencing. This network of churches will go beyond a mother/daughter church relationship into one which provides accountability for pastoral staff, a forum for conflict resolution, training, joint purchasing, accounting and legal oversight and partnering in church planting. We believe ministry flows out of relationship and we want to see long-term relationships established between the leadership teams of the various churches.

5. Is an outward-focused church.

We want to touch our community with the power of Christ and the compassion of Christ through acts of kindness and compassion in our community. We envision weekend service opportunities where the Vineyard community gathers for a short time of worship and then is sent out to “touch the disenchanted with the Kingdom of God. ” We want to develop a safe place where God seekers can encounter the grace of God and the power of His Spirit for physical and emotional healing.

6.  A fellowship of believers where our worship of God is filled with a deep understanding of the glory of God.

We desire our community to be filled with the awe and reverence of God and to place a high value in our corporate worship. Our desire is to sense hearts fully open before God as He visits His people.

7. Is a fun, non-religious and inviting place for seekers to discover the grace of God and the presence of the Holy Spirit.

8. We see the development of a Fine Arts School for under-financed families.

We will form a non-profit foundation called Inspire which will be initiated for:
1. Equipping children with musical instruments
2. Educating children with musical education
3. Providing enrichment experiences

9. Provides a safe haven for those involved in worship ministries.

We want to provide a training center for those desiring to use their musical talents in the Kingdom of God. We desire to provide a forum for a national worship care network, personal counseling and discipleship. We foresee the outreach of this ministry to include financial planning, marriage and family counseling and personal career coaching for those involved in the music industry.
